Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Resume Book? How will employers use them?
Resume Books are another job search tool that enables active job seekers to circulate their resumes to potential employers. By including your resume in a Resume Book, you are allowing interested employers to view your resume and contact you directly about jobs openings, information sessions, or interviews.
Employers must request and be granted access to the CCPD Resume Books. Not all employers with active JobLink accounts will be given access to the Resume Books. If given access, employers can view and download resumes, sort candidate lists by certain majors and graduation dates, and even do resume keyword searches.
I’ve already submitted my resumes for OCR jobs. Is this the same thing?
No, Resume Books provide you with another opportunity to market yourself to employers who may or may not be interviewing on campus or attending career fairs. Employers will use this resource to solicit your interest in new job prospects that you may not have considered.
I have multiple resumes. Which resume should I submit?
You can choose to use one of the resumes that you’ve already uploaded into your JobLink account simply designate it as your “Primary Resume.” You may store up to 10 documents in your JobLink account.
Be sure your Primary Resume is a good fit for you given your interests and the current job market. The CCPD Staff recommends that you include a clear objective statement. For example, “Seeking a Summer 2011 internship in the field of Engineering, with interest in Mechanical Systems.”
I found a job after I submitted my resume for the CCPD Resume Books. Can I withdraw my resume from the Resume Book?
Yes, you can have your resume removed from the Resume Books by changing your Privacy Setting regarding resumes (see instructions above) to “No.” Your resume will then be automatically removed.
What if an employer contacts me about something that is not an appropriate job or the opening seems unrelated given my education/experience?
Contact the CCPD staff at (518) 276-6234 and be prepared to share specifics.
