R. Byron Pipes

R. Byron Pipes was president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 1993-1998. Pipes earlier served as Provost and Academic Vice President of the University of Delaware, Dean of its College of Engineering, and co-founder and Director of Delaware's Center for Composite Materials. Pipes earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute, a master's degree from Princeton University, and a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas.
