Christina Bapst ’02 was named a 2009 Rising Star by Federal Computer Week. The Rising Star Awards program honors up-and-coming men and women who have made an early — and substantive — mark in the government IT world.

Bapst, a program manager at the Department of Homeland Security in the Office of the Chief Information Officer, was nominated for managing the Enterprise Data Management Office, which coordinates the data collected, managed, and shared across DHS’s 22 components. Bapst also oversees the budget for the Office of Applied Technology (OAT) and she was responsible for tightening up OAT’s acquisition process, with 98 percent of projects now completed on schedule.

The Rising Star awards are presented by the 1105 Government Information Group, publisher of Federal Computer Week, GCN, and Washington Technology, to public and private sector employees in the federal IT community who have made a lasting impact on their organization. Bapst earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the Lally School in 2002.
