Bob DeSio '51, treasurer; Bob Ryan '57, president; and Bud Hovey '52, secretary

The 50 Year Club held its 2010 annual meeting and luncheon at the DeFreest Barn in the RPI Tech Park. In addition to the business meeting we had a presentation on the student-run RPI TV network, which does a terrific job presenting most RPI hockey games on streaming video. We were also entertained by the Rensselyrics, a wonderful singing group.

The business meeting was chaired by club president Harry (Bud) Hovey ’52. The main order of business was adoption of amendments to the club bylaws. Anyone interested in seeing the bylaws should contact Suzanne Turcotte at (518) 276-4132, or turcos2@rpi.edu. A new slate of officers was elected and they took office on July 1: President–Robert Ryan ’57; Vice President–Harry (Bud) Lindner ’57; Treasurer–Robert DeSio ’51; and Secretary–Harry (Bud) Hovey ’52.

William Blanchfield ’60 and Edward Dauenheimer ’60 will represent the Class of ’60 on the board of directors. The Class of ’60 was inducted into the 50 Year Club during the Reunion in October. Members of that class are encouraged to become “Active” members of the 50 Year Club by paying a one-time donation of $50. For those classes earlier than 1960, if you haven’t made a donation, now is a good time to contribute so that we can continue on with our good works. Please make dues checks payable to RPI 50 Year Club, and send to Robert DeSio, 25 Collins Terrace, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Dues money helps pay for club activities including sponsorship of the 50 Year Club Display Case in the Student Union and cash prizes to members of the Red & White Club, a student volunteer organization that provides many services to alumni and others who visit the campus. The Class of 2011 winners of the Red & White Club prizes were: Josh Bruder, Kyle Mattson, and Neena Pyzocha. — Bud Hovey ’52
